Novo Astro is located 30km east of Juruena and covers more than 15km2 containing many Garimpeiro workings from the 1980s, several of which are still being actively mined today.
Historic sampling combined with the Garimpiero workings suggest there is potentially significant gold at Novo Astro. Meteoric commenced an initial sampling program in mid-2019 in and around the open pits.
This work identified immediate drill targets under the historic workings and as such, Meteoric commenced a 21-hole diamond drilling program (for 2,500m) in October 2019, intersecting visible gold in the first drill hole.
However, final results from Novo Astro returned no economically significant assays.
Meteoric will undertake a detailed analysis of results while its 2020 exploration program focuses on expanding the existing gold resource at Juruena and exploring the Palm Springs project in WA.
